We believe the theatrical arts – and creativity in general – help us all to connect with one another and help us gain an understanding of the world and our place within it. We believe that making, seeing or enjoying the arts in some way enables us all to feel more fulfilled and ultimately leads to a better life.
So not only are we a place for brilliant contemporary performance and innovative well-made plays but as a part of the University of Essex we are a perfect place for you to create, develop, learn and explore.
As part of our Get Involved events we run writing workshops, a student company, a young company, summer drama clubs for kids, open mic nights, an associate artist programme, a brand new Research Lab to develop research based theatre, scratch nights for watching brand new performances, and loads of other ad hoc developmental events to stimulate ideas and develop the creations that follow.
You might be a local theatre maker, writer, performer or director, an audience member who wants a little bit more or a young person who wants to get on stage or just be part of the creative process. You might even be all of those things.
Whoever you are, whatever you do we’re sure we’ll have something that will push your buttons.
