How can creativity flourish under constraints?
In international news, the Middle East is frequently portrayed as a crisis ‘hotspot’. Filmmakers often attempt to go beyond standard news images and narratives of crisis, and usually have to confront numerous constraints and personal risks to tell their stories. In this lecture, Professor Shohini Chaudhuri explores the types of constraints that filmmakers face when they make films in the region and the creative strategies they are using to overcome them.
