Lakeside Theatre Welcomes Back Two Come Home – A Powerful Return to Its Origins
The Lakeside Theatre is proud to announce the return of Two Come Home, the critically acclaimed play by Joe Eason, for a one-night only performance on 23 January, returning to the very stage it made its world premiere.
Originally performed at Lakeside Theatre in 2024, audiences have watched guilt, rage and love collide in this play with music to much critical praise ever since. Two Come Home returns after successful runs across the UK including an acclaimed off-west end run at The Cockpit Theatre, receiving 5-star reviews and seven Fringe Theatre Award nominations.
Set against the frozen backdrop of an isolated Appalachian mountain town, Two Come Home follows Evan, ex-convict and recovered addict, who has tried to build a quiet, solitary life. But old ghosts and lost love return to unbury a decade’s worth of pain, unfolding a story of poverty, addiction, homophobia and generational trauma.
Lakeside Theatre Manager Hanna Jones commented, “To have Two Come Home return to the very stage that first gave it life is a deeply moving moment for us. The play’s exploration of loneliness, the burden of history, and the search for redemption is more resonant than ever. We are honoured to welcome the company back and give our community another chance to experience this remarkable story.”
Joe Eason, who has written, composed and stars in the play said, “It feels so good to be bringing Two Come Home back to the Lakeside Theatre. Back to where this whole project started and where the play found its feet. This theatre, and the audiences who experienced the play here in its earliest form, shaped so much of what it has become. To be able to stand on that stage again, show people how far this independent production has come, and to tell this story one more time is an honour. This is a homecoming for us and we’re so excited to be collaborating with The Lakeside again.”
